Duties

Help
  • As an Agency expert in an assigned area, develops workplans, detailed systems analysis and design of new or existing major systems or subsystems...
  • [cont'd] and oversees software development, testing and implementation activities for programmatic and administrative systems.
  • Plans, sets priorities and develops systems analysis techniques and analytical approaches in accordance with Target Architectures.
  • Provides expertise in the development of planning disciplines, priorities, and analytical approaches for the design, development, testing and implementation of programmatic and administrative systems.
  • Assumes full technical responsibility for the formulation, coordination and development of special studies, projects or research work regarding programmatic and administrative systems development.
  • Provides authoritative advice to executive level managers within the Agency about the area of expertise.
  • Conducts continuing review of computer technology developments applicable to system design and prepares long range forecasts of developments relevant to SSA applications.
  • Provides technical direction and guidance to other IT Specialists.
  • Develops systems performance measurement criteria in order to assess systems/software through the design and development life cycle stages and in maintenance and software improvement activities.

To qualify for the 2210 IT Specialist series, applicants must demonstrate the following IT-related competencies:

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition, to qualify for this GS-13 level position, applicants must possess and demonstrate 52 weeks of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-12 level in the Federal government that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such IT-related experience must include the following:

A. Developing applications in React to support large scale applications that interface with relational databases or APIs, AND
B. Coordinating development efforts to ensure project implementation OR leading technical discussions for enterprise level IT projects

All of this specialized experience is REQUIRED and must be explicitly documented/described in your resume or you will be disqualified from further consideration.
